With two laps to go, the fight for the win was between #88 Beavis, #36 Andreev and #33 Schokin, who was running third — but his engine blew and the officials threw the yellow flag.
The win goes to #88 Beavis.
Right at the finish, under the cautions, #98 Johny caused a crash through his own mistake and lost 5th place.

Race interviews:
#88 Beavis – 1st place
On Friday, we at B&B Posse decided to analyze what keeps causing our constant failures on the superspeedways. I noticed that we always wreck our cars early in the race while fighting for the top 10. So I suggested flipping the strategy around: run at the back of the field for the first half of the race and attack the leaders only in the second half. The strategy worked perfectly — within the first third of the distance, 70% of the field had wrecked their cars. Those still in the running we managed to get past thanks to smart work with my teammates in the draft.
What I will remember most is the pass around the outside, with #24 backing me up, in the closing laps.
#229 D. Andreev – 2nd place
My preparation amounted to nothing more than tightening a few bolts in the setup of a certain little-known German racer. In general, I believe Daytona is first and foremost about experience. And though mine is not that extensive, it still let me run almost the whole race on the inside, never giving the cars behind a chance to poke their noses in there.
The key moment is, of course, starting from the pole, because the odds of surviving to the finish are far higher when you start from first position. And, of course, the brilliant teamwork of Beavis and Butt-head, which in the end cost me the win.
#23 A. Chistov – 3rd place
I will be honest, I did not prepare for the race... Given the nature of restrictor-plate races and my experience from previous ones, I was sure that practicing in the duel would be quite enough. But as it turned out, this time I should have taken a more structured approach to practicing running in the "herd", since in the race my main problems with the car came from exactly that.
All in all, the race turned out to be quite eventful.
The main thing was avoiding the numerous pileups in the first part of the distance.
Every time I dodged a crash, I escaped the seemingly inevitable fate of a wrecked car by a sheer miracle. The incident on lap 40 sticks in my memory most, when the cars ahead of me tangled, and only my old experience of emergency situations helped me, miraculously, not to smear my car along the concrete barrier.
But there were mistakes on my side too.
In the second half of the race, several drivers contending for a good result suffered from my incorrect moves, which I sincerely regret.
And the closing episode was the engine blowing on #33 Schokin's car just a couple of laps from the finish, which essentially decided the finishing order.
#64 S. Komisarchik – 4th place
Let's put it this way: I prepared more for qualifying than for the round itself. Before qualifying I tested about five setups. And the race setup I was tuning right on race day, half an hour before the green flag. Luckily, the weather was hot (though humid), so the setup behaved quite stably on any line, in the draft and out of it.
The race went very well for me, not without a large share of luck. Every pileup I got around brought me closer to a finish within the top-5/10. There were, I believe, two of those. In the first one I still clipped someone, picking up damage that was enough to spoil the car's aerodynamics and, accordingly, to make me no longer competitive in the fight for the lead. The second pileup I got around by a miracle.
Team tactics helped a lot. For example, another important moment came in the middle of the race, when my teammate RacerX and I (and Seh, at first) managed to hook into the draft with Schokin, who was running an undamaged car. I think that is what allowed us to stay on the lead lap.
On every restart except the last one, I just could not latch onto the draft of the lead group. But on the last one, luck finally smiled on me, thanks to the fast cars lined up behind me on the restart. I think that also counts among the significant moments.
#24 Butt-head – 7th place
The team gave me a setup, and off I went. No problems.
There was a moment in the race when #99 blocked me and Beavis during a pass. I picked up damage from it and, with that, lost my chances of winning!
#33 Alexander Schokin (LICH) – 8th place
Never again will I run "off-nominal situation" experiments before a race.
I remembered about the race at almost 21:00. The remaining 15 minutes I devoted to experiments. For some reason I really wanted to find out whether the car could coast for 2 laps... And wouldn't you know it — I survived the first pileup (which was not easy even from the back), babied the engine the whole race, deliberately lowered the grille tape at the start, and right at the end, as I was already running through in my head how I would attack the leaders, the engine suddenly dies — right on the finish line. Exactly 2 laps from the finish. And not even from overheating. I got hit by the random. Spooky stuff...
By the way, as it turns out, you cannot coast 2 laps at Daytona.
#01 Oliver Driver – 10th place
Before the race I practiced with the bots in the third row, mostly on the inside; I stayed out of the middle.
Early in the race Madlopt took me out in the crudest possible way. The car was not damaged, but I lost the lead position. After that, under the yellow, I ridiculously ran into #89. I figured they would not brake so sharply since we had to catch up, and I got busy flipping through the info display, but Tik thought otherwise and provoked the contact. Then I forgot to repair, which cost me 0.2 sec a lap. When the yellows came out I was ready to fight for the win again, but then came a silly brush with the wall in the tri-oval, after which I was already losing 0.8 sec a lap, and the flags just would not come, and soon I was a lap down. By the end of the race, the car was running 4.5 seconds slower than it should have had it been healthy.. After all the problems, I am quite happy with a tenth-place finish.
#72 Lulukov (Seh) – 12th place
We had a great chance at a high finish.
I want to thank my teammates Sinner and Holden for their help in finding the balance of our Nokia Symbian Dodge on the Daytona track; thanks to that I managed to take second place in qualifying and would have had decent pace in the race. The GNS round, in which we finished in the top 5 and rehearsed a few moves, also had a positive effect on our race preparation.
Early in the race I was confidently holding a place in the top five, but I got caught in a crash provoked by the lapped car #95, after which my car's pace dropped noticeably and we could not stay in the draft with undamaged cars.
About twenty laps from the finish, courtesy of the utility services, the power went out, and I retired.
#85 S. Lobanov – 15th place
My preparation for the round went as usual — that is, not at all. It just so happens that I keep up this INL "tradition". Five or six laps in practice were enough to get used to the track and the draft. In the race itself, on lap two in T3, after a picture-perfect punt from behind by #61 Skovorodkin, I could have gone straight to bed.
#113 Sergey Anti – 16th place
Effectively, my preparation for the round was taking part in the duel the day before the race. The final car settings I was still editing in practice before the race. Spending more time on preparation made no sense, because at Daytona, 99 percent of the time you have to count on luck, and 1% is skill.
The only memorable moment of the whole race was the "big one" on lap two of the distance in T3. I was running in the outside group; we had decent prospects of pulling even with the left lane (on this track, taking the risk on the outside pays off). Approaching the ill-fated T3, I backed off a little from Kan, who was running ahead, and thus got extra visibility through the corner; the likelihood of a crash ahead was very high, and I was expecting it. The moment I saw #42 Menshikov flying diagonally, I immediately began easing off the throttle and aimed for the middle. Menshikov meanwhile clipped #89 and blocked the way for #3 Kan, but I managed to get past — experience, probably, helped me react in time; usually I rarely escape situations like that in one piece. Having cleared the tumbling cars, I began drifting back to the left to clear the road for my rivals' faster cars on the inside of the track, but I never managed to finish the maneuver. In the rear-view mirror, something was closing in at incredible speed (as it later turned out, it was Lobanov, sent flying by #61). I was doomed; nothing depended on me anymore. When the world stopped spinning and the car came to rest, the spotter said we had serious engine problems — second gear was gone. In short, the race was over. But I was not too upset: this is racing, things happen; the main thing is that the offenders learn a lesson from this incident.
#95 A. Madlopt – 18th place
INL preparations for the season take up a lot of time, so I could not prepare for "The King 250" at full scale. All my offline preparation was no more than 30 minutes. But I was not worried about it, because I have always run well on superspeedways — in those rare cases when I was allowed to make it to the finish.
Missing the start for technical reasons did not upset me much. In a race like this you can win even two laps down — as long as you do not ruin everything yourself, which is exactly what happened.
On lap 7, seeing my teammate in the mirrors while being a lapped car, I tried to let him by on the inside, but having listened to the spotter, I forgot that #01 Oliver Driver was up high in my blind spot, and took him out. The engine gave up the ghost. The stupidest of mistakes.
#36 E. Dmitriev – 22nd place
There was no special preparation — this is Daytona, known by heart to everyone. Besides, preparation on tracks like this gives you practically nothing for the race. There were a couple of fun runs, but just for kicks, to play around in the draft.
In the race, apart from the crash in which my engine died, nothing stuck in my memory.
HG !!! Notes:
"Breakthrough"
#88 Beavis
After the numerous collisions which, to be fair, always come with NR03 racing — and not only at WRI — the win in the opening round of the Pro Cup went to a driver who started from 26th position!
"Anti-Hero"
#98 Johny
"Dissenting Opinion – Johny, You Are Wrong!!!"
#64 Sergey Komisarchik
I want to explain my protest against #98 Johny so there are no misunderstandings.
First of all, let me say right away: nothing personal, or, as they say, "no hard feelings".
This is the first time I am filing a protest. Usually I do not care much when I get wrecked by someone's driving mistake. To me it is almost always "thats racing". But this style of driving is stuck in my throat by now, and at times it drives me mad.
No respect for the drivers in the race. What is the point of all this blocking? Especially blocking that clearly contradicts the rules.
We are all in the same boat, after all. Give others the right to race properly. If you got past someone — well done, give others the chance to do the same next time.
Had I passed you, and found myself in your situation, I would not have blocked, and I would have given you credit for racing clean. Everyone in our pack drove like decent people; you were the only one weaving all over. In the end, you threw it away yourself and ended up behind
#74 Tik
I can confirm — I do not like that kind of driving from Johny either; a couple of times we nearly had crashes, and only because I managed to lift in time. He darts out right under your nose. By the way, the same thing has been noticed from him in other series too.
#36 Dmitriev
When the first yellow flag came out, I began slowing down; there was nobody behind me. Coming out of T4, I see a pileup, I almost come to a stop so as not to hit a car sitting sideways across the track — and then, out of nowhere, #98 Johny comes flying from behind and slams me into that car ahead.
The engine died, the race was over. Thanks, Johny!
Afterword…
Beavis & Butt-head
They say Beavis is Putin, and Butt-head is actually Medvedev. They also gossip that he and Butt-head are Siamese twins — without specifying whether they have been surgically separated yet or not. It has been told that when the sun goes down and the moon rises, he grows fangs… but what do we care about that — the main thing is no wrecker driving…
Then again, we all know: with his brains and his speed, he can do without it. It is also claimed that he is none other than that very Mr. VH. You can hear a lot of things about Beavis…
Team B&B. Back to the Future.
A rivalry between two strong drivers within one team is always a double-edged sword. And if those drivers are also vivid personalities, such a partnership always comes with potential problems. In the history of WRI racing, one can find quite a few examples of scandalous breakups. It is enough to recall the "divorce" between Forza and Tik.
Nobody will dispute that, up to this point, Butt-head has always gone out of his way to show respect for his teammate — and not just in words, but in deeds. Previously, Butt-head was not a direct rival to his partner Beavis. But is he ready to remain in his partner's shadow any longer, and help him win a third straight Pro Cup title? Hardly! He has no intention of wasting yet another year. And most likely, before eventually settling down in iracing for good, he will try to win the top championship at WRI — which means he will have to battle nascardud. And perhaps he will not even resist the temptation to send him into the barrier, should the opportunity present itself.
About KAN
One of the most talented online racers has proven he is already capable of taking a swing at fighting for the Pro Cup title. Having taken wins in the Kings and Travel series, and having come within a whisker of the Intimidator title, he definitely knows what the secret of winning is, and will surely not repeat the blunders that held him back before. The dedication and focus he showed in the last two off season series clearly demonstrated that KAN 42 has not been wasting his time and has been diligently preparing for the main event at WRI, namely the Pro Cup series. That he will make the Chase is beyond doubt. Physical stamina he has in spades. Then again, we are not knocking coconuts off palm trees here, and in all likelihood, psychological resilience will play a far more important role.

#23 A. Chistov – 3
#24 Butt-head – 7
#33 Alexander Schokin (LICH) – 8
#01 Oliver Driver – 10
#72 Lulukov (Seh) – 12
#113 Sergey Anti – 16
#95 A. Madlopt – 18

#88 Beavis
#64 Sergey Komisarchik-а
#36 Dmitriev
Johny!
Beavis & Butt-head
